David Clemens was born and raised in Malta, OH and he has had a love for horses from a young age. His family still owns and manages Clemens Farms Inc. where they farm corn, hay, soybeans, straw, and beef cattle. Back in the day, Dave enjoyed team penning cattle on his horse. Today, you will find him enjoying a nice trail ride or working cows at his family farm.

Becky Clemens married David in 1988 and that is when Clemens Performance Horses really started. Becky grew up in McConnelsville, OH and she has been a cosmetologist for over 38-years in her hometown. Becky helps manage the books at the farm and she does her best to keep David in line. She also enjoys trail riding her horse and spending time with her grandpups Harley, Loki, and Gia.

Cody M. Clemens, Ph.D. is the one who is currently working to build the brand and reputation of Clemens Performance Horses. If you want to breed your mare to VF Smooth N Rare, give Cody a call (740-517-0486).

Cody earned his Ph.D. in Media and Communication from Bowling Green State University in 2020, and he has been riding horses since he was 2-years old. Cody enjoys trail riding, breeding, and barrel racing his horses. During the week, you will find him playing a professor of communication, but on the weekends he is usually at a barrel race. He is the son of David and Becky, and he is the proud dad of his dog, Gia.

Courtney Clemens is the youngest of the Clemens family, and she packs a punch. She has the wit and sass that her mother taught her, along with the kindness she learned from her two grandmothers. Courtney has been riding from a young age, and she enjoys trail riding and photographing all of the pretty horses. She is the daughter of David and Becky, and the proud mom of her two dogs, Harley and Loki.

Sheldon Gillespie is Courtney’s boyfriend, and he is very helpful around the farm. He has had a passion for horses his entire life. He enjoys contest riding, trail riding, and working with young colts. In his free time, Sheldon enjoys hunting, coaching high school basketball, and spending time in the great outdoors.

Valerie VanSickle-Kiphart is a very important friend to the Clemens Family and to Clemens Performance Horses. Valerie co-owns VF Smooth N Rare and she is the one who allowed him to stand at Clemens Performance Horses. Valerie is a consistent 1D rider, horse trainer, and all around good human. In terms of her accomplishments in the barrel arena, she is a former AQHA World Champion, AQHA Reserve World Champion, and Best of the Best Champion. Her main mounts, Seis So Sweet and Dashing French Lady are forces to be reckoned with. Val loves her husband, Jason Kiphart (most of the time), and she has three wonderful children, Payton, Piper, and Oaklen. Please contact Val and Jason with any training needs you may have! Jason Kiphart is married to Valerie VanSickle-Kiphart and they own and operate a horse training business together. Jason is a consistent 1D rider and his main mounts Rare Jet Fuel and Zevi Echo Bar have taken him to the winner’s circle numerous times. Jason is a great trainer and person.
